Four arrested in Baghdad Karkh killing over 650,000 dinar dispute

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Police in Baghdad's Karkh district said four suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of a young man during a dispute over 650,000 Iraqi dinars. The Karkh Police Command said the argument escalated into an armed altercation, and the victim died at the scene before the suspects fled to another city. The command said a special team was formed under the direct supervision of the Karkh police chief and led by the deputy police commander. The team included the Abu Ghraib area security chief, the head of the Abu Ghraib homicide unit and the officer in charge of the Resala police station. Investigators examined the crime scene, collected evidence and recovered the weapon used in the killing, according to the statement. Intelligence and technical work later identified the city where the suspects were hiding, and the team carried out a coordinated operation with the local police command, homicide unit and tactical battalion. The four suspects were detained under Article 405 of the Iraqi Penal Code and referred for legal proceedings. No further details were immediately available.
