KIRKUK, Iraq — A fire broke out at a residence on the Kirkuk–Baghdad road after a spark from an electrical contact, the Kirkuk Civil Defense Directorate said. Firefighters dispatched to the scene contained the blaze quickly and prevented it from spreading to neighboring homes. An initial assessment identified a short circuit in the electrical wiring as the main cause; no casualties were reported and damage was confined to the single residence.
Separately in Anbar province, a fire erupted in one section of Anbar University, according to local Civil Defense officials. Crews responded after receiving an alert and brought the flames under control before they could spread to other parts of the campus.
No deaths or injuries were recorded in either incident, and cooling operations were completed, officials said. No further details were immediately available.
