BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Fire crews in Nineveh province are working to contain three separate blazes that broke out in agricultural areas on the outskirts of Mosul, a Civil Defense Directorate source said Wednesday. The first fire started in the village of Musayid in the Hamaydat subdistrict west of the city, the second in the village of Selce in the Badush subdistrict, and the third in farmland near Manare al-Shabak village east of Mosul.
Firefighting teams were dispatched to each location after the alerts were received and began suppression operations in coordination with local residents and supporting units. Crews have focused on stopping the Manare al-Shabak blaze from spreading into the farmlands of the Hamdaniye district.
The Civil Defense source said no casualties or injuries had been recorded. In some areas where the flames were partially brought under control, crews have moved to cooling and damage assessment operations, according to the source.
