Fire Contained at Iraq Ministry of Health Building in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, Iraq — A fire broke out on one floor of the Ministry of Health building in the Iraqi capital, the ministry said in a statement. Civil defense teams from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Interior responded to the blaze, bringing it under control before it could spread further. The statement said on-duty civil defense personnel at the scene carried out the initial response before specialized teams joined the effort. No casualties or injuries were reported, and damage was limited to the floor where the fire originated. Criminal investigation teams have been deployed to determine the cause of the fire, according to the ministry. The ministry attributed the situation being brought under control to the rapid response of emergency teams.
