Ferencváros eliminates Trabzonspor 4-0 to reach Europa League league phase

BUDAPEST, Hungary — Ferencváros thrashed Trabzonspor 4-0 in the second leg of their UEFA Europa League play-off on Thursday, sealing a 5-0 aggregate victory and a place in the 2026-27 league phase. Callum O'Dowda opened the scoring in the 19th minute at the Groupama Arena, before Marius Moraru doubled the lead early in the second half. Yusuf Bamidele added a third five minutes later, and Kristian Lisztes completed the rout in the 86th minute. Trabzonspor's task became almost impossible in the 13th minute when Ruslan Malinovskyi was shown a straight red card. The Turkish side, featuring Mohamed Salah in the starting lineup, were reduced to nine men in the 57th minute after defender Sidney Cabral was sent off. Ferencváros had taken a 1-0 lead in the first leg in Trabzon. With Thursday's result, the Hungarian club confirmed its place in next season's Europa League league phase. Trabzonspor exited European competition at the play-off stage.
