Libya’s Homicide Investigation Department said security teams defused a remotely triggered explosive device placed inside a parked vehicle outside a school in the city of Sorman. The agency said specialists dispatched after a tip-off found five artillery shells and a landmine wired to a remote detonation circuit inside the car, and successfully dismantled the device.
The department said security measures were taken around the school to protect residents and public facilities in the area. It added that no injuries or damage were reported.
Authorities have launched an investigation to identify those responsible for placing the vehicle outside the school. The department said those identified would face legal proceedings.
