Eight wounded in Nineveh clash; body of 15-year-old boy recovered from Tigris River

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Eight people were injured in a knife fight in the Sa'd neighborhood of Tal Afar district, west of Mosul, on Wednesday, security sources said. Police secured the scene and detained those involved, while the wounded were taken to Tal Afar State Hospital for treatment. Several victims were discharged after receiving initial care, and security forces opened an investigation into the cause of the altercation. In a separate incident the same day, river police divers recovered the body of a 15-year-old boy from the Tigris River in the village of Kullu Nasir in the Kayyara subdistrict, south of Mosul. The boy, born in 2011, had drowned while swimming, according to the sources. The body was transferred to the forensic medicine unit. Security forces have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the drowning. No further details were immediately available.
