NASIRIYAH, Iraq โ A member of Iraq's parliament from Dhi Qar province, Ali al-Kinani, accused provincial governor Haytham al-Hamdani of allocating privileged residential land plots in central Nasiriyah to the governor's brother and son. Al-Hamdani rejected the allegations, calling them baseless and saying all land allocations were carried out within the legal framework.
The provincial council reportedly refused to approve a file covering the allocation of nine land plots prepared for senior officials. It also requested that all related documents, including files involving the governor's relatives and his deputies, be referred from the governor's office for review.
Al-Hamdani said he reserves the right to pursue legal action over the allegations. No further details on the disputed land allocations were immediately available.
