Coordination Framework Cancels Gadir Bayram After Religious Authority's Death

BAGHDAD, Iraq — The Coordination Framework announced Thursday it has cancelled Gadir Bayram celebrations following the death of Shaykh Ishaq al-Fayyaz, a prominent religious authority based in Najaf. Fayyaz died after a prolonged illness, according to his office. His office said he taught various Islamic sciences, trained scholars and propagated the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt. One of Najaf's leading religious authorities, Fayyaz leaves behind scientific works that represent a significant loss for the Science Councils and believers, according to the statement. The Coordination Framework said it made the decision to honor Fayyaz's religious and scientific status. The group expressed full solidarity with the Science Council and the broader community of believers in mourning, conveying condolences to the Islamic world.
