TORONTO โ€” Canada earned its first-ever FIFA World Cup point on Friday, playing Bosnia-Herzegovina to a 1-1 draw at Toronto Stadium in what was also the first World Cup match staged on Canadian soil. Bosnia-Herzegovina went ahead in the 21st minute through a Jovo Lukic header, with Canada controlling much of the play but failing to create clear chances before the break. Cyle Larin equalized in the second half, ending Canada's run of six consecutive World Cup defeats stretching back to the 1986 and 2022 tournaments. Earlier, Canada's Jonathan David forced a comfortable save from Bosnia-Herzegovina goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj in the 17th minute. The match marked the first time World Cup finals have been held in Canada.
