An explosive attack in western Yemen killed a senior military commander and three of his bodyguards on Tuesday.
Brigadier General Yahya Wahish, commander of the 1st Infantry Division of the National Resistance Forces, died when an improvised explosive device detonated near his convoy as it traveled toward a military camp, according to military sources.
The attack occurred in the Huca district south of Hodeidah. The National Resistance Forces operate under the internationally recognized Yemeni government and fight against Houthi forces.
Yemeni military units said they launched an investigation to determine the details of the attack and identify those responsible. No official statement or investigation results have been released. No group has claimed responsibility.
