Iraqi security forces raid Basra housing complex to arrest forgery suspect

BASRA, Iraq — A large security force under Basra's Provincial Security Directorate raided the Nar Shamsa housing complex in the city to arrest a suspect wanted on forgery charges, a security source said. Forces sealed the main entrance of the compound before storming the suspect's residence, according to the source. The operation was carried out to apprehend the individual, who was the subject of an arrest warrant, and to secure the surrounding area, the source added. Security units took extensive precautions around the complex in anticipation of possible resistance from the suspect. Residents of the Nar Shamsa complex were briefly evacuated during the raid, the source said, adding that normal life resumed in the area after the searches were completed. The suspect's identity has not been disclosed, and provincial security units said identification and investigative procedures are continuing.
