BASRA, Iraq โ€” Governor Asaad al-Idani chaired a meeting at the provincial headquarters to review the security situation in Basra and coordinate the safe movement of visitors traveling from the Kirkuk direction. The talks brought together Akil al-Faraji, head of the Basra Provincial Council's security committee, and a number of security commanders. Participants assessed recent security developments in the province and discussed plans to strengthen coordination among security agencies, with a focus on ensuring the safe passage of visitors heading toward Karbala. Plans for managing inflows of visitors through border crossings during the Arbaeen pilgrimage season were also reviewed. Al-Idani said the meeting would contribute to maintaining security and stability in the province. A statement from the governor's office said the relevant security bodies would jointly carry out the decisions taken. The gathering was described as a routine coordination meeting aimed at reviewing Basra's existing security preparations.
