Barcelona's Yamal wins La Liga best player award; teammate García claims best save

Lamine Yamal, Barcelona's 18-year-old winger, has won La Liga's best footballer award, the league announced. He beat Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappé, Villarreal's Nicolas Pépé, Real Betis's Pablo Fornals and Girona's Vedat Muriqi to the prize. His teammate Raphinha had claimed the award last season. Yamal is currently with Spain's national team in the United States, Canada and Mexico ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Barcelona goalkeeper Juan García also received recognition, winning the season's best save award for a stop in the 18th round match against Espanyol. García's decisive save came in the 38th minute of Barcelona's 2-0 victory over Espanyol. Atlético Madrid's Jan Oblak and Athletic Club's Unai Simón were also contenders for the save award.
