Baghdad sets August generator amper fees at 12,000 dinars

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Baghdad has set the amper fee for generator services for this month, according to a document issued by the provincial council. The decision was based on Cabinet decisions and a May 26, 2026 letter from the Ministry of Oil. Under the document, generators that operate on the gold system and alternate with the national electricity grid will charge 12,000 dinars per amp. Night-only generators were set at 8,000 dinars, while areas covered by privatization will charge 6,000 dinars. The document also requires generator owners to display an official sign showing the price, operating type and complaint number. It said subscribers must receive an official receipt for the subscription fee. It added that local unit managers and the relevant committees would be held responsible for any violation or overcharging of citizens. Complaints will be handled in coordination with Baghdad police and National Security.
