Baghdad police arrest suspect in vehicle arson in Karkh district

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Baghdad's Karkh Police Command said a suspect accused of setting a citizen's vehicle on fire in the Ghazaliya neighborhood of the Karkh side of the capital has been apprehended. Police said the arrest came after officers from the Ghazaliya police station coordinated with the Karkh Support Unit and technical intelligence teams. Following the incident, the Karkh Police Commander ordered the formation of a working team, a field investigation and a review of surveillance camera footage. The footage allowed investigators to identify the suspect and track his movements, according to the command's statement. The suspect was referred to judicial authorities under standard legal procedures, and the required legal action has been initiated, the command said.
