Baghdad Police Arrest Car Theft Suspect Known as 'Joker'

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Police in the Karkh district of Baghdad have arrested a suspect accused of using specialized keys to break into vehicles and steal their contents. The man, identified as Haydar Joker, was taken into custody following an investigation by Karkh Command patrol units, according to a written police statement. Investigators found that the suspect used keys colloquially known as "Joker" to unlock cars before removing items and fleeing the scene. Patrol teams identified the suspect after tracking a series of vehicle thefts reported across several areas of the Karkh district. During questioning, the suspect confessed to carrying out three thefts in the Karkh area using the same method. Legal proceedings have been initiated and the suspect remains in custody pending transfer to judicial authorities.
