Baghdad operation command seals mall, restaurant and nightclubs in Karkh and Rusafa

BAGHDAD, Iraq — The Baghdad Operations Command said on July 15 that joint inspection teams sealed a shopping mall, a restaurant and several entertainment venues in the Karkh and Rusafa districts for violating tourism regulations. The inspections, carried out under the direct orders of the Baghdad Operations Commander, involved joint commissions and personnel from the Tourism Security Directorate, the command said in a statement. The teams inspected shopping malls, restaurants, nightclubs and warehouses selling alcoholic beverages across the two districts. Establishments found to be operating without the required licenses or in breach of tourism legislation were shut down and sealed. In Karkh and Rusafa, authorities sealed one shopping mall, six nightclubs and lounges, one restaurant and one warehouse storing alcoholic beverages, according to the statement. The Baghdad Operations Command said inspections targeting businesses that fail to comply with tourism rules would continue.
