Baghdad commander vows continued pursuit of organized crime suspects

BAGHDAD, Iraq — The commander of Baghdad Operations, Major General Hadi al-Kanani, said tracking of individuals linked to organized crime networks and judicial offenses will continue alongside the enforcement of arrest warrants. The command said al-Kanani carried out an inspection visit to the Fırat and Jihad police stations in Baghdad's Karkh side, accompanied by the Interior Ministry's undersecretary and members of the command's staff. During the visit, al-Kanani received detailed briefings on the stations' areas of responsibility, according to the statement. He stressed the importance of ongoing security plans aimed at strengthening stability across the district and called for the resolute implementation of arrest warrants against those involved in organized and judicial crimes. Al-Kanani ordered closer coordination and cooperation with security units responsible for the area to prevent attempts to disrupt public order. The command said the measures are intended to preserve the security gains achieved in the capital.
