Baghdad command says 3,450 service convoys registered for Karbala pilgrimage

BAGHDAD, Iraq — The Baghdad Operations Command said 3,450 service convoys heading to Karbala have been officially registered in the capital's Karkh and Rusafa districts. In a written statement, the command said the registration was completed as of the 10th of Safar, in coordination with the Husseini Rituals Preservation Unit within the Shiite Endowments Office and the convoy commissions. Officials said the convoys are being operated under established rules and directives, aimed at maintaining order and delivering services to visitors traveling to the shrine of Imam Hussein. The command emphasized that the measures are intended to keep traffic flowing and preserve the broad public participation in the pilgrimage. The statement added that the registration process is advancing in parallel with security preparations, with convoys required to operate according to set guidelines. Security and logistical arrangements in Karbala are also being carried out in line with the pilgrimage schedule, the command said.
