Iraq’s National Security Adviser Qasim Arajii said the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government have reached broad consensus on outstanding issues, as Baghdad and Erbil prepare to send a high-level joint security delegation to Tehran. He made the remarks in Baghdad during a joint statement with Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. Arajii said the delegation will be composed of senior security representatives from Erbil and Baghdad and will represent the Iraq-Iran Higher Security Committee, which was established earlier. The visit is expected to address a range of common concerns between the two sides. Those discussions will include attacks that targeted the Kurdistan Region and Iraq as a whole during the military clashes in the area, as well as other topics of mutual interest. The planned talks underscore continued coordination between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government on security matters. Masrour Barzani said Arajii rejected those attacks as targeting not only the Kurdistan Region but all regions of Iraq. He added that the joint approach reflects a wider effort to manage security issues through coordinated engagement with Tehran.
