Apple is preparing to release a new AirPods model with built-in cameras in late 2027 as part of a push to expand its artificial intelligence-powered device lineup, according to people familiar with the matter cited by Bloomberg. The same period is expected to see the simultaneous launch of the company's first foldable iPhone and its next-generation iPhone, timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the original iPhone's release.
The three devices would form the largest bundle of new products Apple has introduced at the same time, the sources said. They are projected to contribute to growth in the first full year under incoming Chief Executive John Ternus, who is set to take office on Sept. 1.
In addition to the three devices, which are reportedly in the final stages of development, Apple is working on chip sets based on a new generation of silicon manufacturing technology for future products. Bloomberg reported last month that AirPods development had accelerated, with core prototypes now carrying nearly final hardware and software. Apple also plans to roll out an iPhone software update, codenamed "Delaware," alongside its iOS 28 operating system in 2027.
