Anbar police arrest suspect in murder within hours, found in Baghdad's Taji district

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Anbar Province Police said on Saturday that officers detained a suspect accused of killing a citizen in the province. The arrest was carried out by the Karmah Anti-Crime Unit under the Eastern Anbar Anti-Crime Branch within hours of the incident, according to a police statement. Police said a special task force was formed within the Eastern Anbar Anti-Crime Branch to implement the regional security plan. Investigators used field surveillance, technical tracking and security camera footage to locate the suspect, identified only by initials, in Baghdad's Taji district. Officers conducted an operation at the identified address and took the suspect into custody. The police statement said the investigation is ongoing and legal proceedings will continue, without providing further details.
