DOHUK, Iraq โ A drone carrying ammunition and a cache of explosive devices were found in a village in northern Duhok province, the provincial governorate's Mine Affairs Directorate said. The finds were made in Sirkeli village, part of Derebuk subdistrict, after a resident's report to the directorate's 182 hotline prompted bomb disposal teams to deploy to the area.
The teams recovered three planted improvised explosive devices, one ammunition-laden drone and two mortar shells of 82 mm and 62 mm caliber, according to Rikฤฑr Bisefki, the directorate's media officer. All the ordnance was transported to designated disposal sites to be destroyed using controlled methods.
Bisefki said the munitions could be remnants of armed clashes in the area between the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and the Turkish Armed Forces. No further details on the timeline or origin of the devices were immediately available.
